Awkwafina

Awkwafina is an American actor and musician. She began by releasing humorous, cleverly written rap songs that addressed topics like race and sexual orientation. She then expanded her fans to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical encounter. She was a trumpet player. She also received classical and jazz training later delving into hip-hop as a teenager. While in her schooling, she specialized in the field of journalism as well as women's studies. She studied Mandarin briefly in Beijing. Following graduation, she decided to pursue music as her main focus. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The last track was connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was released in the year 2015. Following a career that was successful as a singer and songwriter, she took on the role of an actor. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, her breakthrough roles included Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June she dropped her debut EP "In Fina We Trust".
